The Artists
Two local residents, Jim Horton and Darcy Bowden, have designed and letterpress printed a 4-color poster for the 2nd annual Kerrytown District BookFest to be held Sunday, September 12, 2004. The artwork was done by Darcy and the printing by both Jim and Darcy. Both are long time Ann Arbor graphic art teachers, Jim at Greenhills and Darcy at Huron High School. Both volunteered their artistic talent and time to do a limited edition printing of these posters, which will be used to promote the event and help raise money for the BookFest.

The Poster
The poster was printed in two editions. One is a limited edition printing of 50, which have been numbered and signed by the artists. They are printed on Stonehenge, a high quality printing paper made of 100% cotton with four deckle edges. The other printing, an unsigned limited edition of 150, is printed on Mohawk Superfine,cover weight. Once these are sold, there will be no more available.

Letterpress Printing
Letterpress printing is an age old art form, with the old style wood type and graphics all being hand set and hand printed. An old (classic) poster feel is evident in the finished product, much like the old posters announcing a circus coming to town or a music group's performance in the 1950's and 60's.

Designed and letterpress printed by Darcy Bowden and Jim Horton, a silent auction of signed, framed poster #1 of a limited edition of 50, will continue throughout the day at the information booth (Booth 81-82) and the winner announced at 5:00 pm. You do not have to be present to win. Framing compliments of Art Warehouse.
